One of the amazing benefits of recovering submerged logs from the bottom of the Ottawa River and its surrounding lakes and streams is you end up holding a piece of history. Watching a sunken log come up from the deep and become planks of flooring, pieces of furniture or trim and paneling is truly a treasure.
The Logs End team often receives shares and forward of amazing archival photographs taken in the late 1800’s – and they never cease to amaze us. From the incredible timber rafts, which served as eating and sleeping quarters, to images of the lumber tugs in action, they capture a rich piece of Canadian history and heritage. It is for this reason we often say our flooring is “History At Your Feet”.
