Environmental responsibility.  Two humble words the team at Logs End does not take for granted.  From our river-reclaimed heritage collection, an engineered collection, and a certified green new-growth hardwood collection, we manufacturer our products with nature, and the ecosystem, at heart.

Logs End flooring renews life on logs submerged in rivers, lakes and streams.  Typically, underwater logging is done by machine process.  While considered to be more cost-effective, the dragging technique is responsible for damage to our riverbeds.  To avoid the destruction caused by machine log salvaging, Logs End employs a team of scuba divers.  All our divers have a vested and dedicated interest in environmental responsibility.  Instead of dragging the waterways, our team carefully secures each and every log to the boat by hand.

Environmental Responsibility – Log Salvaging

Studies have shown responsible log salvaging has an environmental benefit.  By removing toxin emitting trees from the water, fish species are better thriving.  Furthermore, areas with removed logs have seen riverbed improvements, as erosion and sediment relocation lessens.  Finally, the natural nutrient levels in the water are raised, helping all forms of marine life flourish.

At Logs End, we take cues from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Québec’s Ministère de l’Environnement, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.  We avoid all sensitive areas outlined by these organizations, and ensure our underwater logging practices foster proper environmental responsibility.
