DID YOU KNOW…

Engineered Hardwood FlooringFormaldehyde is an ever-present, colourless gas that can give off a pickle-like smell. For years, it has been used in a wide variety of home improvement products including paint, wallpaper and hardwood flooring. While formaldehyde is a naturally occurring organic compound, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer consider the gas a human carcinogen.

At low levels, formaldehyde is known for causing eye, nose, throat and skin irritation. In some people, minimal exposure to the gas can trigger asthma attacks. Worse still, workers who were exposed to the gas at higher levels for long periods of time showed a link to throat cancer, nose cancer and leukemia. Bottom line – reducing exposure to formaldehyde is strongly recommended.
