In August, we showcased the before and after photos from the Johnston Family dining room renovation. This power couple is tackling their own renovations, so it’s been a pleasure to watch their spaces come to life. This month, we are excited to share the latest progress — which includes a refurbished great room fireplace and kitchen.

Fireplace Makeover

First up, the great room where the fireplace got a complete makeover. The initial wood fireplace was not centered and was only 1 brick thick. It was not ideal for a space that needed built-ins. The workaround: keep the original brick, add a gas fireplace, top with a Logs End reclaimed wood mantle, use IKEA Sektion cabinets as built-ins, and couple those with Shop-to-Shelf custom countertops and shelves.

Kitchen Overhaul

Next up, we share the outcome of the kitchen renovation. It’s fresh, airy and welcoming thanks to Benjamin Moore ‘Silver Satin’ paint and the new wide plank Logs End European Oak flooring in ‘Pure’.
