Our river-recovered pine comes from the depths of the Ottawa River and is made up of centuries-old logs that were cut down during the heyday of the Ottawa Valley logging era. These logs, that become water logged and sank during their transportation down the Ottawa River, have left us with a very special and historic flooring product of astounding beauty.

The old growth pine that makes up our flooring is approximately 25% more dense than today’s commercial pine and displays unique colour variations that can only be found in our river recovered wood.

Logs End offers the river recovered pine in the two grades listed below, as well as in a pre-finished product.

River Run Pine (view our River Run Pine floors)

River Run Pine flooring is our well-established pine-flooring grade. The knots are much smaller than the Tavern pine, and it provides a more classic knotty pine feel suitable for homes and cottages of all varieties.

It is milled to 3/4″ in thickness and comes in a variety of widths ranging from 3.25″ to 9″. All of our River Run Pine comes tongue-and-grooved and end-matched to help provide unparalleled stability. Longer lengths are available. As an added feature, an anti-cup relief pattern is added on the underside of each plank to strengthen the final product.

The River Run grade is perfect for those who want to have the history and beauty of river-recovered pine in their home while maintaining an elegant, clean, yet naturally characteristic look.

Pre-finished River Run Pine

Logs End is pleased to offer its traditional River Run Pine both unfinished and as a pre-finished, ready-to-install product.

The pre-finished pine is finished with eight coats of aluminum oxide finish and is available in custom colours, with colour matching available. Stock colours include Natural, Sienna, and English Chestnut but there are no limitations on what we can do for you. All staining and finishing is completed at the manufacturing facility.

For your convenience, our pre-finished wood also comes with a slight micro-beveled edge to assist with the installation (standard in all pre-finished flooring on the market) and an anti-cup relief pattern on the underside of each plank to strengthen the final product.

Tavern Pine (view our Tavern Pine floors)

The Tavern grade is Logs End’s more rustic and character-filled grade of pine. It is hand selected for a higher volume of larger, solid knots, surface imperfections and streaks of mineral colourization, all of which help provide the classic rustic charm that the Tavern is known for.

Arguably Logs End’s most popular floor, it also comes tongue-and-grooved and end- matched and is milled to 3/4″ thick and is available in widths ranging from 3.25″-9″. Longer lengths are available. To strengthen the final product, an anti-cup relief pattern is added on the underside of each plank.

Tavern pine is highly recommended for use in cottages, chalets, and log and country homes.
